How are we responding to COVID-19

Updated on 6/01/2021

At The Because of Grace Residential Care Services, the health of our residents, staff, and families is our top priority. As a result, we are taking proactive steps to try and mitigate the spread of viral infections, including COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus). As an organization, we are diligently following the guidance and requirements of the Florida Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the President of the United States.

Effective Sunday, March 15, 2020, we will unfortunately need to restrict all visitors to our campuses until further direction has been given. With the exception of state officials, health care providers, and contractors.

With the severity and spread of Coronavirus actively increasing, we want to stress the importance of our residents only leaving our communities if and when it is absolutely necessary for urgent medical needs and appointments. Individuals 60 and older are at highest risk for contracting Coronavirus. Often, these cases lead to serious symptoms and hospitalizations as a result of pre-existing conditions, weaker immune systems, and of course, age. Furthermore, Coronavirus can remain viable and infectious in droplets in the air for hours and on surfaces up to days. By residents leaving our group home, they are drastically increasing their chances of coming into contact with the virus and ultimately spreading it within our building. If residents do leave our buildings, they will be required to wear gloves and a mask.  We ask that you please call us ahead of time to notify us that you will be coming and the items you will be delivering or picking up. We ask that you call us when you arrive, and please remain in our drive way until a staff member comes out to meet you to give assistance. We have included our contact phone numbers for your convenience.

While these decisions have not been easy, we are continuing to follow recommendations and requirements in order to protect the health of our residents and staff. There remains no current evidence of COVID-19 at our group home.

Our teams are dedicated to keeping our families connected with their loved ones during this difficult time through phone calls as well as mail if you prefer.

We understand and acknowledge that this comes as a disappointment to many of our residents and families and we hope that this will be a short-lived situation. We will continue to do our best to communicate all updated information as we learn of it to keep our communities connected. Thank you to every member of The Because of Grace Residential Care Services for your compassion and understanding during this difficult time. Our entire organization is dedicated to our mission of providing welcoming communities of kindness and grace where residents and staff thrive, as we will continue this mission while putting our residents’ health needs first.
